CMP Scores Tons of Surplus Military Ammo

It looks like the CMP just found another warehouse somewhere filled with what seems to be 1960s-era Lake City .30-06, along with .22 LR and .30 Carbine ammo and they plan to start selling it through their offices "soon."

Back in 2005, the Civilian Marksmanship Program brought smiles to M1 Garand and M1903 Springfield owners nationwide when they scored a deal to bring in 25 million rounds of military surplus .30-06 ball ammo from Greece, where it had been stockpiled since the 1970s. It took CMP over a decade to sell it all, which they did pretty cheap at prices as low as .50 cents a round, delivered.

Well, it looks like they just found another warehouse somewhere filled with what seems to be 1960s-era Lake City .30-06, along with .22 LR and .30 Carbine ammo and they plan to start selling it through their offices “soon.”

The good news is that “Purchase limits and restrictions will be set to ensure that the mission of CMP is well served,” with the plan to be able to sell the stockpile off over the next several years.

No words on prices, availability, or just where this windfall came from, but when we know, you’ll know.
