Ruger, after picking up the Marlin Firearms subsidiary from bankrupt Remington Outdoors last year at bargain-basement prices, is busy bringing those lever guns back to the market. While the company skipped SHOT Show, they did roll out the stainless Model 1895, and this week, as Ruger says they will be at the huge NRA Show in Houston, they have the more compact Model 1895 Trapper.

Using a 16.17-inch, cold-hammer-forged barrel with a six-groove 1:20 twist, it is suppressor-ready and rugged with a laminated stock (the model used to carry a coated birch hardwood stock) and stainless steel construction.

Unwelcome news is that it is $1,349, which is about $250 more than what Rem-lin was selling the guns for just last year.
