Taurus is getting to be about as bad as Sig Sauer when it comes to making very incremental changes to an existing model (look! it’s brown now!).
Not content to let its excellent little sleeper micro 9mm GX4 pistol just continue finding its way into people’s hands, the company just released a new and improved (?) version that is 0.64-inches longer and an ounce or two heavier.
The new GX4xl has a 3.7-inch barrel– as opposed to the 3.06-inch barrel on the standard GX4– and uses the same grip frame. Taurus says the new gun offers a longer sight radius and gives its rounds a little more rifling to add velocity. It also ships with an extended 13+1 round magazine and a flush 11+1, rather than the two 11+1s the regular GX4 has included.
The new model is about $40 more ($429 vs $392), at least in the published MSRP. Actual prices at retailers are usually a good deal lower.
