Because optics are everything these days, FN has finally introduced a version of their Five-Seven pistol that is MRD compatible.
Unimaginatively dubbed the FN Five-Seven MRD, the new Mk3 or 3rd Gen model of the 20+1 5.7x28mm handgun keeps a lot of the old 1990s flavor of the original including the same mags, the weirdly-placed safety selector located directly above the trigger, and the serrated trigger guard.
Besides the slide cut and hardware to accommodate Burris, Docter, Leupold, Trijicon, and Vortex optics, the FN Five-Seven MRD also has much better ergonomics and decent photoluminescent sights that co-witness, at least in some cases.
Rather than wait for an FDE model to come out two years from now, FN is also making the gun in both black and FDE, at a cost of $1,499, which is about $180 more than the legacy Mk2 version of the gun whose resale value just dropped.
