Smith & Wesson is continuing to claw at the air with new products for 2023 by producing a 9mm pistol caliber carbine. As sort of a no-brainer, it is based on their M&P9 pistol but with a longer 16-inch barrel. Of interest, the carbine, dubbed the FPC, has a left-folding barrel assembly that roughly drops it in half.

Additional features include a handguard with an upper Picatinny rail and M-LOK accessory slots, what Smith calls a flat-face trigger, and the typical M&P9 pistol’s interchangeable palm swells. The buttstock holds two extra mags. It ships with a carrying bag designed with multiple Velcro storage compartments and has an MSRP of $659.

Of course, folks are bagging on the fact that it kind of sort of just mimics the less expensive KelTec SUB2000, which has been out for almost a quarter century, and that there was a huge blitz on social media by just about every big-name Guntuber out there kind of low-key shilling for the FPC.

Speaking of videos, Jerry Miculek had about the most entertaining of the bunch.

Time will tell on this one.

Anyway, KelTec seems to have a good sense of humor about the whole thing, and, the day after Smith announced the FPC, the Florida gun maker debuted a $100 rebate for the $578 MSRP’d SUB2000 set to run for the next few months.
